Overview


The Site Manager is responsible for the development, leadership and management of the operational functions, performance, and maintenance activities in his location. The Manager will ensure alignment with all functional groups, Environment, Land, Manufacturing, Human Resources, Sales and Safety to drive communication, consistency and performance. Primary focus is optimizing available reserves, asset and capital employed while leveraging operational excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production in a unionized environment. Ensures Lafarge is viewed as a valued member of the industry and local communities in which it operates.


Responsibilities


Safety:


  • Follows and ensures full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all contracts and project site meet the Lafarge safety policy requirements for our employee’s safety.
  • Participate in the administration and implementation of the safety program by ensuring that all of the safety programs are functioning properly.


Production Management


  • Production of aggregates products to meet market demand.
  • Oversee and manage Local and National Contracts to ensure expectations and purchasing gains are achieved.
  • Develop, implement and track maintenance, production, stockpiling and shipping processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Works with his/her team and the ECAN Manufacturing team to analyze capital needs and requests.
  • Employ daily communication process with Sales, Distribution, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.


Financial Management


  • Forecast profitability and production to optimize yield; support supply chain with balancing inventory and sales needs in order to manage and minimize working capital impact.
  • Plan, drive and track financial performance using local/regional tools, assist in the development, implementation and management of annual repair budgets, promote financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.


Customer Focus


  • Oversee monthly inventory reconciliation to assist Sales, Distribution and Supply Chain in balancing site inventory levels in order to meet the demand.
  • Schedule and plan production to maximize available shipping inventory and minimize Truck Turnaround Time (TTT), while working with local Quality team to optimize product offering


Coordination Of Customer Service & Logistics Personnel


  • This role will supervise and coordinate Inside Sales, Dispatch, Weighmasters (directly or indirectly) .


Land Management


  • Ensure sites meet or exceed all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist Land in the development, implementation and management of a sustainable mining plan with detailed stripping, production phasing and rehabilitation forecasts to ensure reserve optimization, while managing community impact.


Environment Management


  • E nsure site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Work with Central Environmental Department to develop, implement and manage operational standards to oversee activities and mitigate our environmental impact.


Community Relations


  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities, events and committees through partnerships within the industry, local associations and the business community.
  • Ensures that a site image guideline exists to promote a professional image in a standard and consistent manner with other ECAN locations and is well implemented / enforced.
  • Acts as site representative with local stakeholders including community members, neighbours and local/provincial government representatives.


Relationships With Others Jobs


  • Works closely with ECAN Area Controller to ensure costs are budgeted, forecasted and accurate
  • Works closely with the HR Manager on HR / ER related matters.
  • Works closely with vendors and subcontractors to manage and maintain Mobile Equipment fleet
  • Works closely with the ECAN Director of Manufacturing to ensure manufacturing best practices and tools are fully utilized in his/ her Aggregates site
  • Works closely with local Quality Manager, Supply Chain Manager and Commercial Manager to ensure efficient management of production costs & inventories and optimize customer quality needs.
  • Works closely with the Safety team, to develop and maintain a culture of safety.
  • Reports to the Operations Manager - Aggregates.
  • Works closely with the Land and Environment teams to ensure all government and Lafarge Guidelines are met or exceeded


Specific Accountabilities


  • Ensure safety and environment compliance with regulations
  • Land Management, Environment Management and Community relations represent close to 50% of the responsibilities of the Site Manager – Montreal-East
  • P2P efficiency and performance
  • Capex project identification, justification, and coordination for the site
  • Ensure favorable labor relations and compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations
  • Implementation of the ROCK Performance modules
  • Ensure optimal operation and maintenance of all fixed and mobile equipment
  • Detailed monthly operations forecast
  • Promote a safe and clean (housekeeping) working environment
  • Sets, monitor, and improve established KPI’s
  • Ensure proper use of National accounts and Divisional Best Practices
  • Annual operations budget for the Aggregates Montreal East Site


Dimensions


  • Indirect reports: 35 to 40
  • Heavy mining Mobile equipment with vendor
  • Production: 8 M tonnes aggregate, Inert fill (1 M tonnes), recycled material (200k tonnes) and snow deposit (1M cubic meters)
  • Budget: $11 million
  • Direct Reports: 7 (3 shift supervisors, 1 inert fill supervisor, 1 materials quality supervisor, 1 materials reception coordinator and 1 administrative support and scale house supervisor)


Qualifications


Education & Work Experience:


  • An undergraduate degree in business, engineering, or comparable study.
  • A minimum of 7 years relevant experience, not necessarily in the aggregates or construction industry.
