Job Description
Reporting directly to the Production Control and Shipping Supervisor, the Shipping and Customs Administrator/Clerk is responsible for and co-ordinates all road, ocean, and air shipments to customers worldwide.


  • Prepares shipping documentation for materials, parts, finished goods and related items. This includes Bills of Lading, Canada Customs Invoice – CCI and other documentation as required.
  • Maintains files and records of shipping documents for domestic and/or international transactions.
  • Track shipments and communicate with clients about progress.
  • Canadian customs rules and regulations (most important)
  • Exceedingly strong work ethic, very reliable with a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Create all export documents.
  • Customs documentation and procedures
  • Responsible for tracking the movement of good internationally, ensuring the transit and delivery is made on time.
  • Mental demands include reading complex documents, detailed work, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning. Communication both verbal and written, frequent interruption, and memory for details is common.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably related to manufacturing.
  • Freight tariffs and rates
  • Files claims for lost or damaged goods.
  • Request and manage quotations from prospective shipping companies and handle claims with insurance companies if any shipment problems occur.
  • Should be confident with figures, converting weights and volumes for air and sea freight, as well as currencies for international shipments.
  • A working knowledge and experience with the following is required
  • Must have superb administrative skills.
  • Keeps track of shipment payments and quotas.
  • Ensuring shipments have appropriate documents for customs release.
  • Coordinate shipping with customs agents for clearance on overseas deliveries.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.
  • Working with team members/other departments to ensure customer's service commitments are met.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • SAP experience is desirable.
  • Follow up on deliveries and obtain POD’s when necessary.
  • Arrange pickups and deliveries from suppliers.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Search for and provide efficient delivery options.
  • Ability to raise and complete documentation.
  • Regular work schedule is Monday to Friday.
  • Successful completion of post secondary education.
  • Enters shipment information into SAP system,
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • On-site working in an office, with occasional manufacturing environment exposure.
  • Competent in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as Teams.
  • Enjoy working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Requesting booking with air and ocean carriers.


Must be legally able to work in Canada.
