THE ROLE


The Customs and Traffic Coordinator will support the Traffic department with daily administrative functions for inbound and outbound freight movements. The primary focus will be the coordination and preparation of all outbound customs documents received from various offices within Canada, as well overall customs support and compliance working with various offices, suppliers and customs broker agencies, including the CBSA. This position also includes additional functions in the traffic department.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Assist Procurement with Customs requests for clearance
  • Provide back up for Customs and Traffic
  • Utilize current carrier agreements to procure carrier services for Inbound freight and outbound freight to customers for best price, best service
  • Prepare export custom documents including sourcing of transport
  • Work with customs brokers to resolve discrepancies and provide missing information for both import and export shipments
  • Work with the Sales team to resolve freight not charged
  • Review, code and approve transportation and customs brokerage invoices based on negotiated agreed rates
  • Collaborate closely and guide our Warehouse shipping teams on any issues relating to shipping document processes
  • Resolve account payable issues as it applies to carrier invoices


Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS


Essential:


  • 3-5 years relevant experience in Supply Chain Logistics
  • Working knowledge of Customs procedures and requirements
  • Working knowledge of transportation methods and principles


Desirable:


  • CITT (certified Logistics Professional) OR CCS (certified Customs Specialist) an asset


WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Exposure to deadlines, multiple demands and priorities, multi-tasking, and interruptions
  • Daily customer and inter-departmental/branch communication via telephone calls, emails, and virtual meetings
