Sharp - Managing Editor

POSITION: SHARP - MANAGING EDITOR

REPORTS TO: SHARP - EDITORIAL + CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Managing Editor duties:

• 1-year contract

• Spearhead and manage editorial team brainstorms and create issue editorial line-ups for the 5 times yearly publication of SHARP, plus the biannual editions of Book for Men

• Monitor industry trends

• Work closely with Editorial and Creative Director and Sales Team to create engaging content that exceeds reader and advertiser expectations

• Assist editorial and creative director in shepherding final pages through production, including proofreading and copy-editing

• Write display copy for all stories

• Collaborate with Editorial and Creative Director, Senior Editor and Fashion Director to determine content and topics across all issues

• Ensure all commissions are produced on time and on-budget

• Coordinate editorial meetings

• Proof and edit final pages and ensure timely delivery of all editorial pages

• Manage schedules and enforce deadlines (for writers, editors, and art team)

• Manage and contribute to social media and digital content as required

• Managing freelance writers as required

• Manage, mentor, and delegate accordingly with editorial team

• Provide leadership, pitch, plan, and execute custom content for advertising and prospective partners, in collaboration with Sales Team

• Ensure timely coverage of major events

• Ensure all content adheres to SEO best practices

• Repackaging print content for online

• Helping with SHARP’s social media accounts and strategy as required

• Work closely with Editorial and Creative Director and Entertainment Editor to secure A-list celebrities for covers across all issues

• Build and maintain editorial and art budget and ensure all content is produced on-budget and review with Editorial and Creative Director

• Proof and edit filed copy and ensure timely delivery of all editorial pages on key production dates (Cover to Printer, Final Cover to Printer, Text to Printer, Final Text to Printer.)

• Coordinate with Copy Editor during production and make final copy-editing changes as required

• Act as brand ambassador for SHARP at events, launches and press trips

• Act as fashion expert for SHARP on television and store events as required
