We are presently recruiting for a Managing Director in the Real Assets Operations group within the Real Assets (RA) department. The role is based in Toronto and will report to the GLT-Managing Director, Head of Real Assets Strategy and Operations.

Role-specific Accountabilities:

• Work with key internal stakeholders to develop and implement new management reporting and monitoring initiatives to support investment decisions
• Act to support the continued development of effective partnerships between the Real Assets department and the key enabling functions across CPP Investments including Operations, Finance, Public Affairs and Legal and Compliance.
• Support the operational needs of the Investment Groups across RA. Act as part of a critical team that enables first line execution of investment processes and reporting.
• Review existing centralized business processes (particularly related to total cost and capital management), make recommendations and implement enhancements to improve process efficiencies
• Oversee Capital Management function for RA, including sharing insights and analysis into the RA portfolio through managing capital in accordance with the approved Short-Term Capital Budget established by the Total Fund Management team and work with respective investment groups to maintain up-to-date and best estimates of forecasted activity via the capital pipeline
• Monitor, analyze and report on the operating performance of the Groups across Real Assets
• Oversee and support other projects and initiatives as required by the Real Assets Operations group
• Lead RA’s business planning activities by working with the respective group leads in RAIM, including development of annual objectives of Real Assets and objectives monitoring / reporting.
• Coordinate and collate information to support requests from other departments (e.g. Assurance and Advisory, Operations, Finance, Public Affairs & Communication) as it relates to Real Assets.
• Oversee the preparation of investment management reports and presentations for the Real Assets Management Committee team on an annual, quarterly and ad hoc basis

Qualifications

• Ability to manage and oversee multiple work streams simultaneously
• Strong understanding and practical experiences with Python programming language and data visualization tool including, Tableau and Microsoft Power BI are considered to be an asset
• Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to think through problems and recommend solutions
• Comfortable with working across diverse teams
• Demonstrated track record of business process enhancements
• 10+ years of relevant investment industry experience
• Strong communicator (both written and verbal) and the presence to influence peers and superiors
• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree; CPA or CFA designations are an asset
• Able to synthesize information across a diverse range of stakeholders
• Ability to work in a high performing culture, under pressure and with time sensitive deadlines
• Knowledge of Real Assets investments and CPP Investments’ investment and/or accounting processes would be advantageous
