POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Product Manager leads and empowers several teams of the local Technology Center (TC) to deliver the right products and solutions, at the right price, through the right marketing strategy by working closely with internal/external stakeholders such as clients, Canadian and headquarter teams.
Under his leadership, there are teams of product management, technical and product support, Learning & Development (L&D), and enterprise solution support. The Senior Product Manager leads the TC teams in conducting market research, defining product requirements and roadmaps. The incumbent manages the entire product life cycle, including product introduction, EOL, inventory control and escalated field issues.
The Senior Product Manager develops and manages the structure, framework, process and communication across teams, while leading, coaching and motivating TC teams in the areas of performance management, career development and competency development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Market Insight and demand management:
- Liaison with Headquarters based in China to address the local product requirements and business cases through market demand and problems collection, analysis and classifications
- Market intelligence through client meetings, exhibitions, researches, third-party industry reports and competitive analysis,
- Gather product features, performance and price of major local competitors through multiple channels, followed by timely and effective response strategies and execution
Pricing strategy and Promotions
- Define and support periodic campaigns, roadshows etc. to drive business growth
- Maintain product profit margins while implementing ongoing discount strategies to stay competitive
- Develop short term and long term promotion strategies, prepare materials and execute the promotional activities by aligning with sales and marketing teams – such as monthly sales flyers
- Based on multi-factors, such as the market, the competition, customers and internal strategies, formulate regional pricing strategy; formulate the right price with a clear market positioning
Product Lifecycle Management
- Follow the Go-To-Market 4P process, lead the action plan, including but not limited to the supporting materials before product release (including Spec, QSG, CAD, UM, FW, FW release note), and responsible for the company’s MPS information complete and accurate
- Work with the sales and marketing team, organize new product launch activities, and manage the market announcements/messages
- Forecast the first order of a new product, determine of inventory level maintenance rules and prepare for the stock, turnover, and inventory clearance; For discontinued products, prepare for phase out and manage inventory clearance if needed
- Following Headquarters’ roadmap, formulate Canadian roadmap (6-month plan) and update periodically, according to the local market demand and customer requirements
- Responsible for ongoing Inventory ratio as required by headquarters
- Carry out monthly operational POS analysis; identify root cause for any outstanding issues and come up action plan
Leadership and Management of different teams: Technical Support; Learning & Development; Enterprise solution management
- Support all knowledge transfer/sharing requirements such as in-person workshops and provide training materials and support as needed at different levels
- Provide training to the teams in the RFI/RFP development and solutions
- Lead and support the enterprise solution development by Industry/Scenario/Function
- Ensure the L&D’s training quality, consistency and delivery of monthly NPA for internal teams and monthly Webinar for external audience.
- Lead and manage Canadian technical support call center, Learning and Development, and Enterprise solution teams
- Liaison with headquarters for product customizations
- Work with the headquarters on L&D initiatives such as e-Learning deployment
QUALIFICATIONS
- Superior communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Bachelor degree or higher in engineering, management, or equivalent; with comparable work experience
- Strong critical thinking skills, ability to create and rationalize strategies and execute plans in ambiguous environments
- Minimum 7-10 years’ practical experiences in Product Management functions, preferably in the security surveillance and/or networking background
- Based in Toronto, Ontario
- Solid experience working and collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Support Resources and customers
- Strong MS skills – Word, PPT, Excel etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, motivated self-starter who is comfortable and capable of leading others
- Fluent English in writing, reading and speaking; knowledge of Chinese language is a must
