The Opportunity


The Procurement & Vendor Management team is accountable for managing third party relationships and engagements, including strategy development, vendor selection and contract negotiations as well as vendor and contract management. We are excited to be undergoing our Procurement and Vendor Management Modernization initiative to simplify and streamline the procurement process, including redefining the strategy and implementing new technology.


In the role of Senior Procurement and Vendor Management Specialist, you will be accountable for managing and optimizing the relationships and performance of key assigned vendors in the IT space, as well as supporting aspects of the Procurement and Vendor Management modernization program. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and foster mutually beneficial relationships starting from business needs all the way to the vendor selection and governance.


As an individual contributor, you will be responsible for adherence to vendor management lifecycle while identifying areas to improve cost efficiencies, reduce operational risks and leverage strategic partnerships.


About The Role:


  • Manage and/or audit for performance, conformance and compliance supplier master agreements and correct non-compliant issues as they arise.
  • Lead Procurement Activities: manage assigned vendor portfolios and lead sourcing initiatives including recommendations on in/out-sourcing decisions, selection of alternative vendors and support in-transition management.
  • Participate in understanding Symcor’s strategic direction and initiatives and ensure ongoing program alignment with the anticipated changes, which will be forthcoming with the assigned Vendors which have been assigned.
  • Plan and conduct formal periodic performance reviews with each account/vendor
  • Define and review SLA and metrics scorecard including quality measurement.
  • Direct ongoing process improvement to deliver increasing operational efficiency in all business partner processes.
  • Serve as initial point of escalation for unresolved operational challenges which occur in the day to day operations of the vendors and their provision of services to Symcor
  • Identify and apply industry best practice pertaining to vendor and contract management
  • As a routine, undertake regular price negotiation; arrange competitive quotes and ensure hardware/equipment and software listings are accurate in contracts.
  • Create, modify and review master agreements and contracts.
  • Develop and maintain sourcing plan for the assigned portfolio.
  • Monitor and analyze vendor performance and produce customized reports documenting individual vendor performance; identify areas of improvement.
  • Execute processes by which vendors are governed and evaluated and ensure that selection criteria is maintained and in accordance with Symcor guidelines and best practice, identifying any challenges with delivery and resolving same.
  • Lead vendor management activities: evaluate and manage vendors, ensuring that vendors comply with contractual terms and conditions and meet assigned performance metrics for all services.
  • Ensure constant application of due diligence, risk assessment and continuing vendor monitoring regarding key suppliers and spend management.


What You Need To Succeed


Education:


  • College/university degree
  • Degree in business, supply chain, information systems, or a related discipline is an asset.


Experience:


  • Experience in working with procurement and sourcing systems such as Coupa, Ariba, Oracle, etc.
  • Experience with IT Software licensing structures and related contract modules
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Procurement and Vendor Management functions
