Job Description
:


  • Provide support to the sales team when visiting customers
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, conceptual layouts, and sketches
  • Be capable, if the need arises, to coordinate the work and direct the work of a small group of mechanical designers and draftspersons
  • Develop initial concepts into final designs, which would include preparing detail drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc
  • Coordinate mechanical design work with that performed by other engineering disciplines
  • Prepare technical and other project specifications
  • Provide on-site technical support during major machinery installations
  • Prepare detailed design calculations and analysis of mechanical equipment for the Steel Industry
  • Investigate field problems, and prepare reports
  • Provide technical guidance to co-workers
  • Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and preliminary designs


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Must hold a valid passport, as there will be occasional travel to the U.S.A., as well as within Canada
  • Proficient in the use of 3D Cad design software (preferably Solid Works)
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as within a team setting
  • Strong computer-oriented skills (familiarity with MS Office, FEA Analysis, Math CAD, etc.)
  • B.SC OR B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering. P.Eng. registration in the Province of Ontario is preferred but not mandatory
  • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems, and provide solutions using sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • 10 years combined experience in the design of Steel Mill and/or Steel Coil Processing equipment and/or heavy industrial machinery design (i.e. mining)
  • Knowledge of the design, fabrication, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment


Requirements

  • B.SC OR B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering. P.Eng. registration in the Province of Ontario is preferred but not mandatory
