Pluggable Optic transceivers are a critical part of the optical platforms that Ciena delivers to the customers with a revenue stream of over $100M annually. The portfolio of transceivers is broad and continues to evolve. From OC3 rate SFPs for Photonic control channels to 400G rate QSFP-DDs for connecting to customer data centers. 800G will be coming to the marketplace very soon.
How You Will Contribute
Reporting to a Director, Hardware Engineering, as a Senior Manager of the Client Pluggable Transceiver Group, you will lead the team to specify, qualify, and introduce transceivers designed by third party companies as well as test compliance of the host serdes interface on internally developed plugs (WL5n and in the future WL6n). Your scope includes the Converged Packet Optical Platforms Group of products (6500, 6500T, Waveserver, ONID, ELS, RLS, and WaveRouter).

• You will lead the Pluggable Transceiver Engineering team with responsibility for resource allocation, employee engagement and development and day-to-day problem solving.
• You will project management activities involving HW PL, HW Pilot, GA, and qualification closure, following the PLC process, ensuring cross-functional collaboration as well as risk and budget management.
• You will partner with the supplier FAEs and sales representatives and Ciena Global Commodity Management team, enabling you to facilitate vendor selection for new programs and to develop an understanding of the future direction of the industry.
• You will regularly engage with Ciena system architects and Product Line Management to drive roadmap discussions.

The Must Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Knowledge of and experience with pluggable transceivers
• Data and telecommunications experience (OTN and Ethernet)
