About Our Company:
Trans-mit Steel serves local markets by providing high-grade electrical steel and components to the electrical transformer industry. We are seeking a detail orientated and self driven individual for the position of Senior Accountant for our Finance department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cost Accounting in manufacturing environment – shop floor BOM, burden cost, etc.
- Perform payable transactions – matching, verifying, entering invoices, payment processing, reconciliation, etc.
- Continuously improve ERP system and coordinate maintenance/implementation.
- Perform receivables transactions – prepare invoices, post payments, follow-up on aging accounts, reconciliation, etc.
- Perform banking transactions-recording deposits and transfers, bank reconciliations.
- Assist supervisor in monthly period-end account reconciliation and financial statements preparation.
- Assist in preparing KPI analysis and board material.
- Interact with production department to ensure that labour, material cost and burden/overhead are appropriately calculated and budgeted.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Engage in cross-training to grow skill sets in all functional areas.
- Conduct inventory count procedure and manage inventory accounting.
Characteristics:
- Develop strong working relationships with cross functional departments and employees.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (both oral and written forms) to various levels within the organization.
- Ability to learn new work instructions and procedures through on-the-job training and experience.
- Be able to work well with a diverse cross section of employees.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstation and meet 5S requirements.
- Be a self starter and able to work in a team environment.
- Participate in all required Safety training provided by the company, practice safe working habits, and report any recognized workplace hazards.
- Have good problem-solving skills.
Experience:
- Familiarity with IFRS/Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises and cost accounting.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong MS Office and mathematics skills.
- Over 2 years relevant experience in factory environment/Big four firms an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Knowledge of ERP system.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
