Job Description
Overview


We are currently looking for someone to join our team in the role of Accountant. This position is based out of our Kitchener corporate office, with hybrid working options available.


Responsible for providing direct support to the finance management, being a key partner and adding value to the business, monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting practices and controls and accounting records to improve reporting quality in accordance with accounting principles, established policies and procedures, relevant legislation, government guidelines and local contract requirements.


This position has solid line reporting to the Managing Director, Business Development and Portfolio Performance. The position requires an individual with a high degree of autonomy, a broad understanding of the business and finance. Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize input from multiple sources are a must.


We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail and a passion for learning, growing and problem-solving.


This is a Full-Time position. Hours of work will be Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm and will be hybrid (in office and in home).

What The Role Involves


  • Monitor deadlines for and submissions of month-end processing, budgets, and other financial requirements.
  • Coordination of meetings with multiple members of management and shareholders.
  • Prepare/maintain annual budgets and forecasts, verify integrity and accuracy, and provide analysis and comparatives.
  • Completion of day-to-day tasks in operating companies including but not limited to payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Provide monthly/quarterly financial closing and communicating current financial results.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Coordination of travel plans and bookings.
  • Prepare daily/weekly cash forecast and cashflow reports.
  • Complete government filings including but not limited to HST, source deductions and income tax installments.
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate income tax returns.
  • Provide analysis of business and investment opportunities.
  • Develop revenue estimates, costing models, operating plans, forecasts, reviews.
  • Produces monthly/ quarterly reports and distributes them to management and shareholders as necessary.


What You Bring


  • Proven capability in financial and accounting procedures, such as budgets, or P&L statements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination*
  • Familiarity with general accounting and corporate finance principles
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to prepare reports using excel with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Working knowledge of accounting applications with preference given to Sage 300
  • Positive attitude, willing to learn, grow and be an integral member of the team
  • Strong detail-oriented experience in accounting or finance
  • CPA designation in good standing or currently enrolled in CPA designation.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multitasking skills and organizational skills

  • The minimum qualifications for this job are a college or university graduate in Finance or Business Administration
  • Experience in the health care field or homecare sector an asset
  • Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft office, with proven skills in Word and Excel
