Job Summary

In this position, you will be the lead financial accountant in one of our three main divisions as well as assisting with several stream-line improvement projects within the Finance Team. You will be responsible for completing month end processes and maintaining supporting schedules. We encourage cross-training to promote diversity and growth within the company.

Working from our Corporate Head office located at 40 Topple Drive, in Dartmouth and reporting to the Finance Manager the Accountant will be a key member of our Finance team. This position also works closely with Sales , Operations and Inventory

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure all relevant financial information is entered into the GL on a timely basis.
• Budget preparation
• Month end adjusting journal entries
• Communicate and work directly with manager on year end audit duties
• Leadership and guidance to Billing, AP, and Sales
• Liaise with auditors, government, and other stakeholders
• Preparing ad hoc analysis to the Finance and Operations managers
• Providing reconciliations and supporting schedules, investigate variances
• Provide job and operating costing
• Complete government remittance (Sales tax returns, EHC, Fuel tax)
• Financial statement preparation

Qualifications and competencies

Must have’s:

The successful candidate will ideally possess a minimum of 1-4 years of experience in a financial environment within a large organization. You are highly proficient in Excel, Crystal Reports, SAP, and Microsoft Office 365, and are experienced with cloud-based accounting.

The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education, preferably in Accounting or Finance, and possess or be on track to get an accounting designation (CPA).
