Our Client is comprised of different companies that build and manage Self-Storage, High Density Residential, Commercial Office, Retail, Gaming and Entertainment properties. They also offers Data Management and Destruction Services. Our Client’s mission is to foster growth and opportunity in the Kingston community by creating comfortable spaces for living, working, and playing. As the Chief Accountant you are responsible for organizing and administering the accounting department. The Chief Accountant will strategically analyze financial systems to identify inefficiencies and gaps and implement change to resolve issues. You will also be responsible for monitoring the financial health of the organization and ensure reporting obligations are met.

What You Will Be Doing

• Conduct a comprehensive assessment of financial systems to identify inefficiencies, inaccuracies, or gaps. Plan and implement strategic change to address any issues (human resources, technology, procedures & policies).
• Collaborate with upper management and advise on the viability of existing properties as well as assist with the financial analysis of growth opportunities.
• Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment.
• Ensure compliance with reporting obligations for the Federal and Provincial governments and industry specific regulatory bodies such as OLG and iGO.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual company financial statements including balance sheets, income statement, and statement of cash flows.
• Manage accounting department including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Analyze financial information to identify trends requiring management attention.

What You Bring To The Table

• A CPA designation is required
• 5-7 years of experience with financial reporting
• 5-8 years of experience in a full-cycle Financial Accounting role
• A post-secondary degree in business or similar.
