Must have proven experience with group benefit plans acquired through a minimum of 3 years of insurance industry underwriting background

Underwrite group benefits requests from internal and external broker sales network

Set final rates through experience rating, and considering all other characteristics of the risk

Negotiate final rates with Group Marketing Managers and Advisors

Great interpersonal skills with a collaboration and learner mindset

Coordinate new business implementation with account management and implementation team

Perform other duties/projects as assigned by management

Entry level to 3 years previous experience underwriting in a Group Benefits environment.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with insurance carriers & Account Managers

Perform ad hoc investigations of claims data in order to explain trends to consultants/account managers, for information to client.

Post-secondary education in mathematical sciences, commerce or a related field.

Analyze financial information to identify trends requiring management attention.

Manage accounting department including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Supply department specific financial information to Directors and Managers.

Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and use macros.

A post-secondary degree in Business, Finance and/or Accounting.

CPA designation is required with a keen interest in corporate finance and financial reporting.
