Job Description

Our client in the consumer good sector is seeking a Senior Finance Analyst to join their accounting and finance team for a 6 month contract. The role is a hybrid of financial reporting and planning and analysis.


The role will require working 1 day a week in their Scarborough office (4 days a week are remote).


About the Opportunity:

  • Close the books, financial reporting, intercompany transactions. Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial data and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, including review of budget variances and explanations for deviations.
  • Manage asset GL accounts and asset database.
  • Prepare daily cash reporting, weekly cash flow forecasts & bank reconciliations.
  • Preparation and review of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes for company and subsidiaries, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Create and distribute monthly department expense reports to stakeholders, point person for expense inquiries by stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial data and performance metrics to identify trends and variances for multiple subsidiaries. Analysis and accruals on utilities, capital accounts & depreciation expense booking.


About You:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership capability.
  • Bachelor's degree and certified designation in good standing is required (CPA).
  • Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with financial reporting tools is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
