Senior Electrical Engineer & Designer (New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project)

Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technician services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Montreal, Quebec.

- Project: The New Champlain Bridge Corridor.

- Initial contract length: 36 months.

- Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (1-hour lunch break).

- Responsibilities:

• Provide electrical construction support.
• Coordinate all relevant drawings and information to eliminate interference problems.
• Manage designers' performance in accordance with plans, by controlling the progress and costs.
• Liaise with third parties, city authorities and utility asset owners to obtain approval of RFIs and design changes.
• Coordinate between designer consultants and construction team.
• Prepare change orders and back charges.
• Provide direction during functional performance testing of electrical systems.
• Find solutions to conflicts in mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications and follow-up with consultants and sub-trades to completion.
• Collect information on a weekly and monthly basis for updating the progress reports.
• Respond effectively to designers' enquiries/requests in efforts to support design process.
• Report accurate quantities for labour cost reports and accurately monitor material ledgers to ensure quantities in estimate are sufficient to complete the project.
• Read and understand the project documents and interprets design documents to the construction team as required.
• Lead technical meetings with the client, third parties and subcontractors.
• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in updating and achieving schedule requirements, electrical RFI's and shop drawings and administrate mechanical/electrical project completion requirements.
• Plan, direct and coordinate on-site electrical activities to comply with specifications, requirements and codes.
• Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors.
• Ensure compliance of the Design Change Management Plan, RFI and Site Instructions processes.
• Support the project procurement and sub-contracting process.

- Requirements:

• Working knowledge of electrical engineering systems, principles and practices.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in construction on large infrastructure types of projects.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electrical design coordination.
• Ability to take initiative.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both, French and English.
• Demonstrate and foster a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals.
• PEng. or Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) certification, or eligible.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Great attention to detail.
• Experience with electrical systems installation.
