POSITION SUMMARY:


The Senior Consultant in Corporate Sustainability brings extensive project management experience and skills to lead client projects in the area of corporate sustainability. This role encompasses various project types, including strategy development and implementation, business case development, research and technical analysis, sustainability policy analysis, and communication and reporting. Working alongside Delphis Senior Management, Consultants, and Analysts across different service areas, the Senior Consultant in Corporate Sustainability delivers high-quality and innovative solutions to clients spanning multiple sectors.


At Delphi, a Senior Consultant assumes proactive and independent responsibility, utilizing project management, client relations, research and analysis, and business development skills and experience. This position requires exceptional client support abilities, including clear communication, analytical and strategic competencies, and an appetite for seizing opportunities as they arise. Previous consulting experience is essential and serves as a foundation for this role.


Senior Consultants are also expected to contribute to ongoing internal management tasks assigned by Senior Management, actively participate in the companys corporate responsibility activities, and fulfill administrative duties as required.


The ideal candidates will possess a strong ability to apply a strategic and technical approach to complex projects, demonstrating an understanding of client context, business strategies, policy considerations, system effects, social impacts, and emerging trends in sustainability, ESG, corporate purpose, and clean technology. This role offers ample opportunities to further enhance candidates exceptional visual, written, and oral communication skills, encompassing both qualitative and quantitative subjects.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Project Delivery, Management & Coordination:


  • Provide support to clients at any phase of developing and/or implementing corporate sustainability strategies and programs, including establishing sustainability priorities, conducting risk and opportunity assessments, performing organizational gap assessments, defining metrics and KPIs, supporting data gathering and analysis, setting targets, developing action plans, and advising on internal management capacity, governance, and accountabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for technical and non-technical audiences as warranted by client projects.
  • Lead medium to large-scale client projects related to sustainability strategies, programs, and initiatives across various industries.
  • Efficiently and effectively oversee and complete client deliverables, such as analysis, research, reports, presentations, and other project tasks. Delegate responsibilities as appropriate to balance workflow, support staff training and development goals, and ensure efficient progress.
  • Stay updated on ongoing market and industry trends related to corporate sustainability and reporting, gathering intelligence through various means.
  • Prepare project timelines, budgets, and progress reports.
  • Lead large-scale stakeholder engagement activities, including survey development and deployment, facilitation of consultations (workshops, roundtables, phone interviews, etc.), as required for project delivery.
  • Maintain communication with the project team, initiate team meetings when necessary, and monitor staff efforts to ensure projects stay on budget and on time.


Proposal Writing:


  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and insights to craft persuasive and tailored proposal sections.
  • Take the lead in developing comprehensive and compelling proposals for client engagements, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs and aligning them with Delphis capabilities and expertise.
  • Ensure the proposals structure, content, and messaging effectively communicate Delphis value proposition, differentiators, and proposed solutions to meet the clients sustainability objectives.


Team Management:


  • Act as a project supervisor for Delphi analysts and consultants across the company, ensuring the effective delivery of individual projects and the ongoing progress towards objectives and expected results.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to analysts and consultants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Embody Delphis corporate culture, motivate staff, and participate in corporate social responsibility initiatives.


Business Development:


  • Lead client discussions to effectively scope potential new project opportunities, assess client needs, and recommend suitable work plans and budgets.
  • Proactively promote Delphis accomplishments and projects through individual marketing, participation, and presentations at related conferences and events.
  • Actively participate in networking events, industry conferences, and forums to expand professional networks, enhance Delphis visibility, and generate leads for potential business opportunities.
  • Contribute to meeting the companys annual sales target.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative service offerings and solutions that address emerging sustainability trends and client demands.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, proactively identifying opportunities for additional projects and provide exceptional client service to drive client satisfaction and loyalty.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Strong client relations experience.
  • Expertise in corporate sustainability/ESG.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and highly dynamic work environments.
  • Familiarity with sustainability/ESG reporting and communication, including working with various sustainability-related reporting standards, platforms, and guidelines such as the Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, CDP, UN Sustainable Development Goals, Integrated Reporting, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure, ESG rating agencies, and others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • University degree in business, communication, environmental studies, or related fields.
  • Experience in designing and implementing sustainability strategies and programs.
  • 7+ years of employment experience or related experience.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.


VALUABLE ASSETS:


  • Knowledge of and experience with sustainability indicators and internal data monitoring systems.
  • Prior experience working in a consulting environment.
  • Knowledge of Canadian, US, and/or international climate change and sustainability policy, regulations, and programs.
  • Proficiency in the French language.
  • Experience in one or more major Canadian industrial or economic sectors.
  • International expertise or direct work experience.
