Senior Buyer Jobs

The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing the best procurement opportunities and purchasing products. Senior buyers must be able to read the market effectively and need strong negotiation skills to ensure that they get the best value for the company’s needs.

What will you do?

• Manage quality control through supplier management.
• Forecast inventory requirements and control inventory.
• Participate and lead cost review and cost to complete review.
• Identify process issues and lead process improvement activities to reduce cost or improve throughput.
• Conduct periodic technical expert toolbox sessions on site.
• Advise Executive Management on innovative procurement ideas and opportunities.
• High level scheduling and project management for subdivisions.
• Assist with contracts for other company divisions.
• Coach and mentor team; develop a succession plan; identify and develop the next generation of managers and leaders in the organization.
• Develop, maintain, and negotiate all contracts/tender packages for Rohit Communities Edmonton.
• Create project proformas, projected margin statements, and feasibility assessments.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform tender and pricing analysis for presentation to stakeholders.
• Source new suppliers and materials including through business networking.
• Maintain, update, and verify direct cost and indirect cost budgets.
• Manage the tendering process from start to finish.
• Evaluate and adjust for variances to budgets.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Update Executive Management on supplier and market changes.

• Engineering bachelor’s degree or a quantitative-focused Business or Mathematics/Statistics degree considered an asset.
• Knowledge of the appropriate tools for grading, analyzing, and assessing materials, equipment, supplies, services, and other commodities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
• Flexible in reacting to changing market conditions and legislative, regulatory, or building codes.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Practical construction experience an asset.
• Desire for continuing education and personal development.
• Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel using advanced formulas and pivot tables.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and present relevant data.
• Experience establishing vendor agreements, including the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risk with vendors and suppliers.
