What You Will Be Doing


The Procurement Buyer Operational Expense (Opex) is responsible for the execution of the procurement processes related to Opex purchases, in accordance with Umicore standards. This role provides a focus on adherence to specifications, timely delivery of materials, creating cost savings, execution of critical metrics, and keeping excellent relationship Suppliers and Stakeholders.


  • Cooperate with internal stakeholders in the project stages of planning and execution
  • Responsible to provide regular follow-up and reporting
  • Administration of purchases in SAP / SRM systems
  • Screen the market for improved sources of OPEX purchases
  • Build and maintain a good relationship with new and existing suppliers
  • Prepare offer comparisons
  • Following the purchase process from requisition to payment
  • Prepare request for information / proposal / quotation documents (including functional specifications)
  • Revise offers for commercial and technical details
  • Participate in Quality Management - internally (co-building the desired processes) and externally (co-operating in supplier quality system's development)
  • Responsible for handling negotiations, with attention to quality, price, terms, delivery, and services provided


Who We Are Looking For


Functional Requirements


  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in purchasing / procurement
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and understanding of contracts
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes
  • Capable user of PC MS office applications & SAP systems
  • Must be fluent in both oral and written English
  • BS in Business or Logistics
