Site Description

Yonge Corporate Centre (YCC) is an award-winning office park in a well-connected midtown location. Comprised of nearly 650,000 square feet across three unique buildings completed between 1985-1989, YCC continues to be one of the most sought-after addresses in the north Yonge corridor and maintains a tenant roster of 'AAA' covenants, including notable blue-chip tenants such as CIBC, Wawanesa, OLG and Ricoh. The complex is set on eight wooded acres overlooking the Don Valley river and golf course, surrounded by green space and tree canopy, and features a nature trail that winds its way through the property. Security guards maintain a highly visible and reassuring presence through their assigned patrol and post duties. Security guards are the eyes and ears of the Property, and they take steps to ensure that the Manager's rules and standards for the Property are maintained. By their presence, they act as a deterrent to crime and undesired activity and help to maintain a visibly safe and welcoming environment at the Property.

Job Duties

• Enforce the rules and regulations at the Property in a fair and responsible manner
• Shut off excess lighting were suitable to assist in the reduction of power consumption
• Maintain strong knowledge of activities and special events at the Property and assist visitors and guests during their visit to the Property.
• Normal physical activity characterized by extended periods of walking and standing, periodic sitting, kneeling, bending, and use of basic motor skills
• Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the Property in a fair and safe manner
• Assist tenants/merchants respond to crimes that have occurred at the Property and ensure appropriate law enforcement authorities are summoned
• Approach guests or visitors at directory boards, within building lobbies, and elsewhere to offer directions or general assistance.
• Assist visitors, guests, and tenants' employees with specific problems, such as safety concerns, requests for directions, escorts, assistance with packages, misplaced vehicles, etc.;
• Perform highly visible patrols of assigned patrol areas/zones (by foot), and positively engage with tenants, guests, visitors, and employees on an ongoing basis
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the company and management
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid, CPR, or AED support as necessary until medical professionals arrive
• Report and follow up on hazards and/or deficiencies identified during duty
• Prepare written reports using the Manager's standard report-writing program
• Facilitate access to restricted areas for authorized persons; and
• Providing exceptional service to enhance customer experience
• Access control
• Be proactive in helping everyone have an outstanding customer experience at the Property
• Ensuring compliance with the standards, rules, and regulations at the Property
• Emergency management
• Work closely with the Manager's other departments at the Property, especially the guest services and tenant services departments, to provide customer service support to tenants, guests, visitors, and employees.
• Remain prepared to respond to crime, disturbances, and emergencies as per training and procedure
• Close and secure doors to prevent heat loss during colder seasons
• Control vehicle traffic on the Property
• Protect the Property and maintain a safe and welcoming environment
• Regular keyboarding and record keeping in written logs required
• Observe and report criminal activity to the police and assist the police upon their arrival and during their attendance at the Property

Requirements& Qualifications

• Valid First Aid and CPR Level - C certification - Issue by a WSIB-approved provider*
• Previous experience working as a security guard
• Flexible and adaptable in dealing with diverse situations and people
• Prior work experience in a customer service environment
• Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations required
• Excellent interpersonal
• Must have a minimum 1 year of experience working in Security or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task
• Excellent discretion and overall decision-making skills
• Covid-19 - Fully Vaccinated (Min 2 doses)
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
• Tact and diplomacy in dealings with a range of settings and situations
• Basic computer (keyboarding) skills are required;

Prerequisites

• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (2 dose min)
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• First Aid& CPR – Level C (WSIB Approved Provider)
