Security Field Service Technician

Locations: Greater Ottawa (ON), Greater Halifax (NS), Greater Moncton (NB)

SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Service Manager, the Service Technician will be responsible for providing clients with technical service as well as constant and efficient after-sales service and support in the areas of Card Access, Intrusion Monitoring, Fire Monitoring and CCTV systems.The candidate will perform preventative maintenance, emergency maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, as well as end-user assistance regarding the proper utilization of these systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the start-up of new equipment or system installation and makes adjustments as needed to ensure the system is operational.
- Maintaining service vehicle stock of all parts, supplies, and equipment.Ensuring that all used stock is diligently recorded on work orders
- Attends and completes training programs routinely as required
- Performs work assignments in a safe manner and within specified cost limits.
- Performing product installations, reconfigurations, removals, or relocations as required from time to time as well as site surveys as required
- Presents a professional image both in personal and vehicle appearance.
- Providing technical and user support by directing and assisting clients in the operation of the products thereby assuring their most efficient use
- Completes maintenance, within assigned hours, in a manner that reduces emergency calls and results in achieving the goal of zero callbacks.
- Managing service call routing in order to maximize time utilization.
- Performs scheduled, routine preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment/systems under contract agreement by inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, and calibrating systems and checking out equipment to ensure it's in satisfactory working order.
- Updating the dispatcher on the status of all calls, completed or work-in-progress, on a per-call basis
- For Ottawa, the role is an embedded tech role for Ottawa airport.
- Assuring quality control through the completion of all scheduled preventive maintenance calls for assigned customer equipment in accordance with the terms of service agreements
- Diligently completing and submitting work orders as per set procedures.All work orders completed at the client’s site must contain serial numbers of equipment and must be signed by the client’s designated authority
- Keeps up-to-date on changes and new developments in products and technology.
- May plan schedules, lay out basic electrical equipment installations, and assist in the start-up and check-out of new system installations.
- Participating in the quarterly inventory counts of vehicles or warehouses as required.
- Completes on-demand service tickets for intrusion, CCTV, and access control security systems.
- Participating in training sessions as required by the company in order to maintain adequate levels of skills and knowledge
- Promotes, builds, and maintains good customer relations and assists with contract retention.
- Attending to all service calls received from customers via the company dispatcher or directly. Contacting customers following the notification of each service call as per procedures. Repairing, using various tools and measuring meters, defective equipment in order to restore it to proper working condition
REQUIREMENTS:
- IP Video and IT experience required.
- Working knowledge of DMP, C.Cure 9000, Lenel preferred (for Ottawa role).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- 2-3 years experience installing access control systems and/or CCTV equipment, and/or fire alarms systems
- Prior training in WSIB, WHIMS and other safety programs would be an asset
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of intrusion detection systems, electronic access control, CCTV, IP video, and surveillance systems.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Vocational/Technical certificate or diploma in electronic security systems or computer systems preferred. Trade or vocational training qualifications in electrical are an advantage.
- Skills in computer networking LAN/WAN
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract
Logistics & Working Conditions
- Candidates must be willing to relocate to any of the required areas if outside of the map.
- Climb ladders that extend up to 24 ft. in height
- Eligible to work in Canada without restrictions
- Experience preferred in working with boom and scissor lifts
- Ability to work on-call on a rotational basis covering after hours & weekend emergency calls.
- Carry items up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work on call and out of town when necessary
