Job Description

Aramark is a world leader in the provision of award-winning food services and has an immediate opening for a Residence Dining Manager at Memorial University, St. John's, NL campus. We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for the industry, as well as the know how to build, direct, and manage a team. Successful applicants will be skilled in organization, professionalism, and giving direction. Reporting to the Food Service Director and working in conjunction with the Executive Chef on a daily basis, the Residence Dining Manager will manage daily Food Service operations in the residence dining hall and catering at Memorial University. This will include supervision of staff, and helping to plan, organize and direct all aspects of the Food Service operations on a day-to-day basis within a corporate environment.
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supervising cash handling procedures, which include Balance cash float, Safe, verify deposit and random cashier audits
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the food services, includes delegating tasks, motivating, and coaching employees as required.
  • Ensure adherence to ARAMARK's Health and Safety Policy
  • Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Food Service Director as necessary.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling and filling shifts as needed.
  • Recruitment, training, and orientation of staff
  • Manage and direct food production planning, waste management, record keeping, follow up, and modification based on business volumes
  • Proactively manage food and labor cost controls
  • Address operational and staffing concerns
  • Oversee the flow of day-to-day operations on the floor
  • Responsible for completing all safety documentation and leading the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • Ensure adherence to all of ARAMARK's Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure food safety standards and HACCP enforced at all times
  • Manage staff related issues such as vacation requests, progressive discipline, and other operational concerns as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned by management from time to time

Qualifications
  • Ability to work flexible hours is essential. This is shiftwork and will include early mornings, evenings, and weekends/holidays
  • Experience with scheduling and hiring
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate team members
  • Previous culinary or production planning experience an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards
  • Proven ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A minimum of 5 years Management experience in a food service environment
  • Strong organizational and team building skills
  • Self-directed with strong interpersonal and communication skills
