Residence Accommodation Manager Jobs

A minimum of 5 years of experience in conflict management, counselling, mediation, customer service and handling difficult and potentially litigious situations.

Experience in project management, continuous improvement, and change management.

Experience in a higher education setting and knowledge of personal, social, academic, and systemic barriers impacting a student’s success.

Master’s in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Administration or a related field, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience analyzing, interpreting, and applying policies, procedures, regulations, and provisions of collective agreements.

Knowledge of student life, student development theory and life in residence.

Manage and direct food production planning, waste management, record keeping, follow up, and modification based on business volumes

Meet daily with the Manager and Chef to discuss operational and staffing concerns

Proactively manage food and labor cost controls

Resolve customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the Manager as necessary.

Fill in for the Residence Dining Manager when required

A minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience, preferably in a food service environment

Develops appropriate departmental objectives for the home with the assistance of the management staff.

Ensures all personnel and medical records are maintained in compliance with legal and corporation requirements.

Recommends to regional manager, changes in administrative policies to carry out the objectives of the corporation.

Hires, trains, and supervises all department managers and conducts regular staff meetings.

Meets with prospective residents and their families and conducts tours in the absence of the marketing manager and/or marketing assistant.

Attends and participates regional administrator/ general manager meetings.

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills and good judgement

• Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures

Managing all aspects of lock hardware and software management in Residence;

Administering effective inventory management processes and practices;

Provide regular feedback, follow up on areas for improvement and manage performance issues;

In collaboration with other Residence Managers, conduct fire drills & resident safety training exercises as required;

3-5 years of relevant experience leading and managing staff, ideally in a unionized environment in a service field or student residence

Experience providing accommodations, academic support, or services to persons with disabilities, preferably postsecondary students with disabilities

Familiarity using databases for case management

Screening (for suspected disabilities learning disabilities, mental health and ADHD) and making referrals to appropriate services

Reviewing course delivery to assess the impact the disability may have in accessing education

Generate accommodation summaries for students upon request for use with petitions, appeals, or ongoing education

Consulting with students and advising around complex issues related to specific disabilities

A minimum of 5 years Management experience in a food service environment

Manage the day-to-day operations of the food services, includes delegating tasks, motivating, and coaching employees as required.

Undergraduate degree is required. Preferred disciplines include social work, health promotion, or education.

Minimum of two to five years of experience working in a postsecondary environment.

Equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered.

Student Affairs and/or Residence Life experience.

Experience in managing a housing residence community or an intentional learning community strongly preferred.

Experience in crisis response and providing mental health support strongly preferred.

Ability to work well on diverse teams and lead a team of colleagues using project management principles.

At least 3 years of supervisory-related experience in a residence life program or student service area.

Experience developing and delivering training programs.

Well-developed and strong interpersonal skills (effective communication, active listening skills, etc.).

Flexible and creative thinking, and ability to adapt approach based on scenario that could change in the moment.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative to solve problems on a daily basis.
