Quality Engineer (Automotive) Jobs

Reports directly to the Quality Manager. The ideal candidate for this position has to be driven, motivated and be a willing contributor to the development of the quality department. This individual will be an experienced quality professional with a lot to offer, while being open to learn and work as one in a team. The candidate has to be a “solution finder” and thrive in challenging situations.
Duties And Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Quality Engineer are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

• Provide input in designing and developing check fixtures & gages.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Management System and processes.
• Lead the launch and transfer of new products to production through APQP process and prepares Production Part Approvals (PPAPs) on new and existing products
• Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations.
• Develop and maintain FMEA’s, Control Plans, Flow Charts, Quality Inspection Instructions, SOP’s
• Lead Automotive Quality throughout Almag’s facility.
• Conduct Capability studies and GR&R when deemed necessary.
• Conduct Internal audits.
• Support and improve the NCR process.
• Manage customer complaints and quarantine and /or disposition non-conforming material in a timely manner.
• Work with cross functional teams to develop corrective actions using problem solving tools (5Why’s, Fishbone etc.). Train team members on the use of these tools if required.
• Develop, update, and maintain control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams and other quality/manufacturing documentation.
• Act as a technical resource for all automotive requirements.
• Provide direction and support to QA team.
• Work directly with customers and sales team to provide technical expertise on quality issues.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience

• Certified Lead auditor an asset
• Self-starter working with minimal supervision
• Working towards a certification with the American Society of Quality (ASQ) as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) designation
• Minimum 8 years working as a Quality engineer in manufacturing environment
• Minimum 5 years direct automotive manufacturing experience
• Highly motivated and driven individual
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or related experience
• Detailed Knowledge of aluminum extrusion processes will be considered an asset.

Technical Skills/Competence

• Experience with dimensional reports, statistical studies, reports data, and facilitating problem solving activities based on dimensional findings.
• Hands-on experience in AIAG Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP) along with continuous improvement (customer support) and systemic/product quality
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
• Proven experience with conducting root cause analysis, implementation of corrective & preventive actions for nonconforming products and processes (8D)
• Direct experience presenting technical information to Customers.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Outstanding knowledge of technology and computer programs (i.e.. XXXXX)
• Ability to verify the effectiveness of corrective & preventive actions.
• Exceptional knowledge and experience with calibration, and measurement analysis of various inspection and testing instruments.
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• ASQ CQE Certification is preferred
