The Quality Assurance Consultant (QAC) functions as a consultant, guide, coach, liaison, facilitator and researcher for the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) registrant quality assurance (QA) program. The QAC plans, develops, delivers, and evaluates quality assurance activities, policy, and requirements, and supports registrants, BCCNM staff, board, and external partners to understand and complete the registrant QA requirements for the purpose of promoting high practice standards and ensuring registrants provide ethical and competent care.The QAC ensures QA requirements are relevant and meet the requirements of the Health Professions Act, QA policy and the organization.
In addition, the QAC acts as the staff liaison for the QA Committee.
Responsibilities
- In consultation with the Director, Quality Assurance, and internal and external organizations and individuals, the QAC develops, delivers, and evaluates registrant quality assurance policy and requirements; works to ensure that registrant quality assurance processes are established, implemented, reviewed, revised, and maintained, and achieve compliance with established standards.
- Acts as the staff liaison for the QA Committee; provides reports to the QA Committee on registrant progress on meeting QA Committee requirements.
- In consultation with the Director, Quality Assurance, responsible for developing policy related to registrant QA activities. Leads both project planning initiatives and program design and development from start up through to completion. Ensures project parameters of scope, schedule, budget, and quality are successfully delivered. Prepares appropriate reports, briefing notes, and presentations.
- Develops and delivers coaching initiatives to assist registrants in professional practice reflection and competence development to meet their quality assurance requirements.
Qualifications
Registrant qualification with a master’s degree in a related discipline.
Seven to ten years of progressively senior experience in complex health care environments.
Proven project management skills and demonstrated experience in managing and evaluating outcomes for complex projects, initiatives and/or programs.
Demonstrated expertise in policy and process development, implementation, and evaluation.
Expertise in change management and facilitation. Preference will be given to incumbents with experience in coaching and supporting behaviour change for individuals.
Knowledge of competency assessment tools and processes.
Demonstrated ability to apply research processes and methodologies to support evidence-informed decision-making, recognize and analyze trends, and to critically evaluate processes, and apply learnings.
Working knowledge of MS Office required. Proficiency or demonstrated ability to become proficient in MS CRM and MS SharePoint or similar programs required.
Strong facilitation and communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to manage an independent, complex workload while contributing effectively to the team.
Must hold practicing registration in good standing with BCCNM or be eligible for practicing registration with BCCNM. If a midwife, must hold practicing or non-practicing registration in good standing with BCCNM.
Demonstrated understanding of diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility as they apply to nursing and midwifery practice and health care is an asset.
