Oliver Inc. is looking for a motivated and detail- oriented Quality Assurance & Safety Manager in Chesterfield, VA who will oversee our quality assurance program per SQF Level 2, Edition 9 certification and provide guidance in inspection and test techniques per folding carton standards according to customers specifications. A successful candidate will have the ability to manage QA personnel, work with a cross-functional team of managers, supervisors and line workers collaborating to identify areas of inefficiency and promote continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will take ownership of the quality of all outgoing materials and products as well as production procedures. The QA & Safety Manager will possess a trained eye for detail and will be reliable and committed.
The position is also responsible for the Safety management system designed to address site-specific requirements, by designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring occupational health, industrial hygiene and workforce safety procedures, processes, and programs in alignment with policies, instructions, and standards and compliant with local, state and federal environment health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
- Interacting with a variety of departments, conducts training in emergency response and hazardous material handling. Monitors raw material compliance, environmental compliance and maintains liaison with appropriate vendors and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor production and quality processes and troubleshoot any errors.
- Manage, develop, motivate, and lead QA Personnel.
- Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate products and production equipment.
- Maintains all company SQF administrative requirements, safety programs, safety equipment inventory, performs periodic safety and quality inspections and leads the safety committee.
- Track, record, and maintain quality assurance data and generate reports as needed.
- Train and manage staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods.
- Ensure that products adhere to quality standards.
- Recommends corrective action where nonconformances in packaging occur, or where environmental health and safety hazards exist.
- Demonstrate high ethical standards with fellow employees, customers, and the public.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
- Knowledge of safety programs, occupational safety, and health administration requirements and Code of Federal, State, and Local Regulations.
- Team Player with ability to multi-task with deadlines while still meeting standards.
- Associate degree a must, bachelor's degree preferred.
- Understanding of SQF, 5S, G7 industry specifications.
- Ability to lead cross functional teams and influence decisions based on facts and critical thinking.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and quality assurance in the paperboard packaging industry preferred.
- SQF certification a must.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
