Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, Property Accounting, this position will work closely with other accounting staff members and will be responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting functions of a large commercial complex.

Responsibilities

• Supply tenant analysis and statements of accounts as required
• Assist in reporting and analysis as required by Co-owners and Corporate Accounting
• Work as part of the team responsible for the financial accounting functions
• Assist in tenant setup in Yardi and prepare lease analysis/memos
• Prepare monthly journal entries, bank deposits, reconciliations, and HST returns
• Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned
• Review monthly rent roll
• Assist in the preparation of statements of operating costs, calculation of tenant pre-billings, and year-end adjustments
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages including variance and cashflow analysis
• Assist in the preparation of interim and year-end audit packages and internal/external audit requests
• Assist in the preparation of monthly SOX packages
• Reconcile and maintain various general ledger accounts
• Support the Tenant Services and Operations group when required
• Make sure tenant charges and rental payment applications are up-to-date

Qualifications

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:

• Possesses a can-do attitude and requires minimal daily work direction/supervision
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude
• A team player who can adapt to a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, cope with changing priorities
• Able to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and deal with complex ownership and reporting structures
• Service-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

Experience & Technical Skills

• Familiarity with Outlook and Word
• Exposure to inter-departmental relationships within a large organization
• Knowledge of month-end/full-cycle accounting for the preparation of a full set of financial statements
• Intermediate working knowledge of Excel is required
• Preparation/review of financial statements, cash management, budgets, audit working papers, and tenant operating cost adjustments
• Exposure to Yardi Voyager is considered an asset
• Minimum 3-4 years of accounting experience

Education/Designations/Licenses

• University Degree or College Diploma in an accounting-related field of study is required.
