Job Description

As a Project Services Specialist in the oil and gas industry, your role encompasses various project management and control responsibilities. Your primary focus is to ensure the successful execution and delivery of projects within budget and on time. Here are some key duties typically associated with the role:


Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, milestones, deliverables, and timelines. Utilize project management tools and software to create detailed schedules and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle. Identify potential scheduling conflicts and propose solutions to mitigate risks and delays.

Cost Estimation and Control:

  • Assist in developing accurate cost estimates for projects by analyzing project requirements, resource needs, and associated expenses. Monitor project budgets, track costs, and provide regular updates to stakeholders. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to control project expenditures.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects and develop risk mitigation plans. Conduct risk assessments, monitor risk factors, and propose mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Collaborate with project teams to ensure risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Performance Analysis:

  • Analyze project performance metrics, such as schedule adherence, cost variance, and quality assurance. Generate reports and provide insights to project teams and management regarding project progress, highlighting areas of improvement and potential issues. Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and implement best practices in future projects.

Contract Management:

  • Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to review and negotiate contracts with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, track deliverables, and manage change orders. Resolve any contractual disputes or issues that may arise during project execution.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Facilitate effective communication among project teams, stakeholders, and clients. Coordinate project meetings, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, and ensure alignment of project objectives. Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and risks to key stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and managing expectations.

Document Control:

  • Establish and maintain project documentation, including project plans, contracts, change orders, and other relevant records. Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation is readily accessible to project teams and stakeholders. Implement document control procedures and standards to ensure consistency and compliance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement measures to enhance project management practices. Participate in lessons-learned sessions and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, templates, and tools for efficient project execution.
