Job Description
IO’s Project Delivery Enterprise Team delivers some of the province’s largest and most important public infrastructure projects, including new hospitals, highways, transit systems, and courthouses. Our made-in-Ontario approach to modern project delivery has brought over 100 major projects to market and has made Ontario a global leader in infrastructure development by delivering new projects on time and on budget while meeting high standards for design, quality, and health and safety.

The Project Manager will provide leadership throughout the planning, procurement and implementation phases of assigned project(s). This includes scope and stakeholder management, budget preparation, scheduling and project risk mitigation.

To succeed in this role, the incumbent brings solid project delivery and stakeholder management experience, the ability to adapt quickly and respond to a changing environment, and experience finding positive solutions to issues with clients and diverse teams of project consultants, specialists and contractors. Presentation, consultation, negotiation, influencing and consensus building skills are also required.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead presentations to seek approvals and demonstrate new concepts, including briefings for senior management and both internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead complex infrastructure projects through all phases of a project’s development and implementation. This includes Pre-transaction, Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP), design, construction, commissioning and to the final transfer of responsibility to operations
  • Lead in coordinating with various internal and external team members to establish agendas, processes and procedures to advance business objectives and project outcomes
  • Manage relationships with various groups of internal and external stakeholders to mitigate project risks and ensure that project objectives are met
  • Manage the planning, design, and construction of large and complex infrastructure projects delivered through traditional direct-delivery (stipulated sum, construction management, etc.) and Public-Private Partnerships (P3s)
What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience negotiating claims, scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on projects is preferred
  • Strong business acumen and experience in dealing with project budgets, schedules, technical requirements and construction methodology
  • Good understanding of traditional forms of contracts and delivery models (e.g. Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance, Design-Build-Finance-Maintain, etc.) and building construction and systems
  • Substantial hands-on experience managing major complex infrastructure projects including direct hands-on management of consultants and contractors.
  • Background in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Engineering, or other relevant discipline to the design and construction industry
  • Experience with site planning, servicing infrastructure and landscape development is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (both verbal and written)
What's in It For You:

  • A convenient, central location at 1 Dundas St West, easily accessible by public transit
  • $500 annual Healthcare Spending Account or Lifestyle Account
  • A pregnancy and parental leave program that offers expecting, eligible employees a top-up to 93% of their annual base salary for 31 weeks, and our parental leave program offers eligible employees a top-up to 93% of their annual base salary for 15 weeks
  • Access to our Healthcare Spending Account to top up expenses not covered in the benefits program and a Lifestyle Account that expands the eligibility of health and wellness options and can include coverage for gym memberships and fitness equipment, nutrition counselling or financial planning
  • Access to a suite of virtual healthcare options to support non-urgent medical needs
  • A comprehensive package that covers health, dental, vision, out-of-country care, paramedical services, and more
  • A defined contribution pension plan, where IO contributes the equivalent of 5% of a full-time employee’s annual salary, with an option for IO to match an additional 2.5% contribution made by the employee. IO also offers a Group Retirement Savings Plan and Group Tax Free Savings Account, designed to help IO colleagues plan and save for their future
  • The salary range for this position is $98,300 – $147,500 with a mid/hiring range of $122,900
  • The corresponding job level is PM3
  • Support for professional development opportunities for all colleagues through a broad learning program that includes both workshops and virtual learning. IO will also cover the costs associated with up to two membership and licence fees per year for eligible colleagues if directly related to the employee’s role
  • Please note that interviews will occur on a rolling basis until the role is filled
  • This posting will close on June 16, 2023 at 11:59 pm
