Foreshew Design Associates is unique in its fusion of construction expertise and unwavering dedication to the specific needs of each client. Each project we undertake is a testament to our meticulous craftsmanship, backed by a responsive approach that caters to every client's unique vision and requirements. Positioned in close proximity to its subsidiaries, Foreshew Design has the unique advantage of utilizing the knowledge and resources of an established interior design studio, the Local Studio, as well as the integral backing of Stel Engineered for structural engineering services. Additionally, the Local Shoppe is within reach as the final stylizing piece of our full-service design approach. We also work closely with our preferred mechanical engineering and landscape architecture teams to fully round out our custom approach to designing unique projects.

As we continue to expand our team, FDA is actively seeking a detail-oriented, junior to mid-level Architectural Technologist with at least 3-4 years of experience to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with our esteemed Designers and other industry professionals, playing a pivotal role in pre-emptively resolving design intricacies before construction commences. The successful candidate will thrive in our dynamic team environment, showcasing analytical prowess, impeccable time management, and the ability to find innovative ways to say yes to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design construction details for wood, steel frame and concrete buildings, using Revit.
• Visit project sites to assess construction progress and ensure details are constructed correctly.
• Collaborate with architects and designers to develop detailed architectural drawings and construction documents.
• A strong commitment to our advanced design processes and outcomes, underpinned by our commitment to research-based solutions, use of advanced tools and technology, and continued staff training.
• Be available to address requests for information, or ongoing inquiries from contractors.
• Maintain efficiency while being uncompromising to quality.
• Utilize the resources, including senior team members, to drive own success.
• Utilize your expertise in Revit design software to create and modify architectural models and drawings.
• Assist with contract administration activities.
• Work directly with, and take direction from, project managers and project designers.
• Prepare construction documents for Issued for Permit, Construction and tendering documents.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and consultants.
• Ensure adherence to building codes, regulations, and industry standards in all design and documentation.

Qualifications

• Located in, or willing to relocate to the Muskoka area.
• Experience with cold weather detailing and North American wood frame construction.
• Graduate of a recognized Architectural Technology program.
• Maintain a consistent dedication to the client and customer service aspect of each project.
• Comfortable interacting with contractors and consultants.
• Ability to work well independently and as a cohesive team.
• A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience as an Architectural Technologist
• Written and spoken English proficiency is required.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code.
• Able to manage a number of tasks on multiple projects simultaneously.
• A quick learner with precise attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Revit modelling and detailing.
• Construction administration/ site review experience will be considered an asset.
• Hold a valid Driver’s license or have ability to travel to rural sites.
• Dedicated to meeting project deadlines.
