Graphic Designer (Contract) Jobs

Job Summary

Contract Designer specializing in corporate design, with a specific focus on sustainability and/or annual reports, the role will be to create visually compelling and informative designs that effectively communicate Pet Valu’s brand identity, values, and goals for sustainability. The role will play a critical role in translating complex information into visually appealing and easy-to-understand publication in PDF format, that engage and inform stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• At all times, attention-to-detail and overall quality control is critical.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sustainability professionals and content writers to create a visually compelling and informative sustainability report and corporate communication templates. Transform complex data and information into engaging infographics, charts and illustrations that enhance the report’s readability and impact.
• Utilize expertise in corporate design to recommend and develop cohesive creative that aligns to the Pet Valu brand guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, investor relation lead, and sustainability content writers to gather input, feedback and incorporate necessary changes into designs. Effectively communicate design concepts, rationale and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Must have the ability to prioritize competing projects and adhere to tight deadlines.

Experience, Education, Certifications

• Able to communicate ideas clearly and effectively and make a strong impact in decision making
• Graphic design/ from a recognized Community college or University
• Attention to detail, accuracy and ability to work independently and efficiently under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in corporate design with specific examples to sustainability report design and annual report design is a plus.
• Thrives in a team environment with a passion for collaborating with various teams and adaptable in working in a fast paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Powerpoint, MS Word, Excel
• Excellent understanding of typography, colour theory, layout principles and visual hierarchy.
• 5-10 years of solid graphic design and production experience with a focus on report design, communication template design and corporate branding.
• Approach challenges with a positive attitude and a customer-first perspective. Retail design experience is an asset.
