Civil Designer Jobs

Ideally based in Sudbury, the Civil Designer will report to the Project Manager (Civil Engineering) and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on design and drawing preparation for civil engineering projects. You will be part of a team that provides solutions in a diverse range of engineering, including Municipal, Transportation, Environmental, Drainage and Hydrology, Land Development, and Utility Scale Renewable Energy Facilities.

What You’ll Do:

• The Civil Designer will be part of the Engineering team. You will:
• Assist Project Managers in all aspects of project delivery
• Multi-task multiple projects of varying size and complexity

• Attend project sites for inspections as required
• Produce civil engineering design drawings, including but not limited to: Lot Grading, Site Plan Design & Linear Infrastructure, Land Development & Water Resources Engineering
• Work closely with engineers to develop drawings from preliminary concept sketches, engineering calculations, and specification sheets
• Review project design basis for scope, presentation, and technical accuracy
• Undertake estimation of tender quantities

Who You Are:

• You have a working knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, practices, and procedures within the discipline
• You have 3-5 years (intermediate level) or 10+ years (senior level) of relevant civil engineering design experience
• You have a solid understanding of company & client procedures, drafting principles, design, and engineering skills
• You are proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• You have knowledge of Site Servicing/Municipal Engineering and Stormwater Management
• You are someone who makes decisions and exercises independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
• You are willing to travel for site inspections and fieldwork, when required
• You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
• You can pivot and alter your approach or recommendations to accomplish desired results

What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will have a college diploma from a Civil Engineering Technician or Technology program (or equivalent experience). Additionally, you should have:

• Ability to work as a team in a multi-discipline environment
• High motivation with results-oriented focus
• Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to navigate confidential matters and manage sensitive data
• A valid Class G driver’s license
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
• OACETT C.E.T or C. Tech. designation is considered an asset
