Transdev Canada is seeking a highly motivated and talented Civil Engineering Intern to support the Hurontario LRT Project team, a Light Rail Operation in the Greater Toronto Area on an 8 month internship starting in September 2023. This individual will work closely with the Fixed Facilities Supervisor and the Project Team to provide comprehensive administrative support, monitor project performance, and contribute to the overall success of the project.

Responsibilities include:
- Create high-quality technical documents and inspection reports that accurately reflect the progress, findings, and recommendations of the project
- Act as the primary point of contact for administrative support related to the maintenance team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, documenting meeting minutes, and maintaining project records and files
- Assist with collecting & collating civil information for sub-contracting activities
- Identifying and creating deficiency reports after civil inspections
- Verify & validate linear assets for the project
- Assist with maintenance delineation activities and attend meetings both on site and in office
- Communicate effectively with the Rail Team and participate in inspection walks, providing feedback and support as needed
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of fixed facilities, keeping accurate records of work assignments and ensuring that all work is completed to the required standards
- Proactively identify and resolve any project issues or obstacles that may impact project performance, working closely with the project team to develop and implement effective solutions
- Evaluate and improve existing project processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness, making recommendations for changes as necessary
- Monitor the progress of the project assigned and provide regular updates to the project team on the status, risks, and any other relevant information
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software
- Excellent time-management, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to read Civil Engineering drawings
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to quickly acquire and apply new knowledge as defined by Management
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure
- The ability to identify deficiencies on construction site during inspections.
- Self-motivated team player with exceptional organizational skills
