We are hiring for multiple co-op/intern positions that vary between on-site and hybrid - students will be required to work at the Markham office on a schedule based on the needs of the hiring team. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.

Program Term

• This role is an 8-month position
• Must be returning to school following the internship
• January 8, 2024 to August 30, 2024

The Role

Do you want to help improve experiences of cutting-edge AMD products? If so, AMD Hardware team is the right place for you. We develop applications for external and internal use as well as large scale systems that improve the productivity of AMD Hardware organization.

What you’ll be doing

• Will be involved in many aspects of the flow from initial test planning to coverage and signoff closure.
• Own, maintain and improve multiple flows that ensure the quality of the design.
• Develop essential production engineering laboratory skills, testing new and old product
• Performing and reporting on Electromagnetic/Optical Fault Injection product immunity.
• Design, implement, debug, and validate features on reference hardware, pre-silicon emulation and simulation environments supporting AMD APUs and CPUs.

• Visibility to hardware project cycle: planning and design, implementation, debugging, integration and tapeout
• Develop your technical abilities and gain industry experience in hardware design & computer architecture
• Lab skills: building computer systems, component instrumentation, test management, and data acquisition.

Requirements

General Qualifications

• A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an emphasis on product development
• Proven interpersonal skills, technical excellence, and teamwork
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Mechatronics, or a related field/discipline
• Must be participating in a registered co-op program
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Preferred Technical Qualifications

• Languages: RTL, Verilog/System Verilog, C, C++, Python, Perl, TCL, Yaml, MATLAB
• Understanding of Synthesis, Floor-planning, Placement, clock trees synthesis, Post Route Timing closure for high-speed >=2GHz designs.
• Familiarity with electrical circuit simulation tools like Hspice
• Good understanding of the fundamentals of analog, logic circuits, ASIC flow and digital electronics
• Knowledge of basic digital circuits and object-oriented programming
• Knowledge of PC system architecture: basic understanding of digital systems and computer organization
• Basic UNIX knowledge, scripting is a plus.
