Based in Sault Ste. Marie, the Civil Engineering Intern will report to the Project Manager and will have a wide range of duties. You will be part of a team that provide solutions over a diverse range of engineering, including Municipal, Transportation, Environmental, Drainage and Hydrology, Land Development, and Utility Scale Renewable Energy Facilities.

What You’ll Do:

The Civil Engineering Intern will be part of the Engineering team. You will:

• Subdivision development – draft plans of subdivision, site servicing, grading, drainage, and subdivision agreements
• Storm water management, drainage and hydrology, wastewater conveyance, potable water distribution, earthworks, transportation, cost estimating, and other supporting areas
• Complete, check. and review technical deliverables including reports, technical notes, drawings, and engineering calculations
• Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, supporting documents, reports, and permit applications
• Assist with project management and construction administration
• Prepare Site Plans including site services, grading, drainage, and storm water management plans
• Perform construction inspection
• Perform pre-engineering inspections and surveys
• Preliminary and final linear infrastructure, road, and street design
• On-site sewage disposal systems and private water supplies

Who You Are:

• You are trusted and provided freedom to work independently but also contribute to the overall team success

• You are a Civil Engineering Intern (Professional Engineers of Ontario; P.Eng. licence is an asset)
• You are not afraid to raise your hand when you need help or guidance
• You have 0-5 years of experience in the civil consulting industry
• You make decisions and exercise independent judgment within defined parameters and in alignment with business objectives
• You are willing to travel when necessary

What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Civil Engineering. Additionally, you should have:

• Valid Class G driver’s licence
• Ability to manage and navigate confidential and sensitive data and matters
• Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
• High motivation with results-oriented focus
• Excellent client liaison and communications skills
• Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
