The Junior CAD Designer is responsible for utilizing 2D and/or 3D CAD skills, drafting techniques, and geometry to produce drawings. The role includes working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment where speed and accuracy is essential. Over the course of time, capabilities for detailing, will increase as level of complexity of assignments and expectations for working independently with less supervision. The role directly reports to the Project Engineer and routinely interacts with other Designers, Engineers and Managers.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Learn to accurately produce detail drawings per applicable standards and specifications.
• Prepare material requisitions to initiate purchasing demand.
• Effectively use document management system.
• Effectively use project team or department collaboration and productivity apps and tools.
• Learn to run programs to produce detail drawings.

Skills and Behaviors:

• Entry-level position with basic knowledge of CAD skills and detailing practices.
• Performs straightforward activities in a timely manner with close supervision and training.
• Coordinates with Engineers and other CAD Designers with guidance from supervisor / trainer.
• Uses standard operating procedures to guide own work and solve standard problems.
• Proactively embraces and promotes the company’s values and culture.
• Effectively communicates work status and information needs with the project team.

Experience and Qualifications:

• High school diploma and at least one year of post-high school education or equivalent experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• 0 to 3 years’ experience.
• Proficient in 2D and/or 3D CAD using platforms such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
• Possesses skills in geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs and basic bills of material.
• Associates Degree or 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
