The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking an Electrical Designer to join our Mechanical & Electrical Department, located at our Ottawa office. Reporting to the Manager, M&E this position will be responsible for applying their electrical design knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion in the following areas: commercial, residential, retail and institutional buildings.

WSP's Electrical & Mechanical team engages in the design of healthcare, educational, commercial, residential, recreational and light industrial facilities, with a specialization in large and complex projects, sustainable developments, and projects utilizing Alternate Delivery methods including Public-Private Partnerships (P3).

A day in the life:

• Complete field reviews for construction and manage construction documentation;
• Production of detailed drawing and specifications;
• Design of lighting and fire alarm systems;
• Design of electrical power distribution systems;
• Coordination with various departments and disciplines required for project implementation;
• Design of specialized systems, such ICAT;

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

• Must be proficient in MS Office Applications.
• Knowledge of National Building Code of Canada and the Ontario Building Code.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem solve in an integrated team environment.
• Design knowledge of LV distribution, fire alarm systems, lighting and control and passive telecommunications.
• Experience working in different delivery models – i.e. CM, Design Build, P3 - is desirable.
• Minimum 4 years electrical engineering and design experience using REVIT MEP 3D on building projects.
• Basic knowledge of LEED v4.0, and CSA/ULC standards.
• Eligible for and working towards either P.Eng., or C.E.T. designations in Ontario
