Senior Mechanical Designer Jobs

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Technologist / Designer to support our office in Sudbury, ON. The ideal candidate will have a technical diploma and 10+ years of experience (including the mining industry). As the Senior Mechanical Technologist / Designer you will be responsible for the design and drafting support of industrial based projects. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop and build a team to support Wood's growth in the Sudbury region.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Engineers and team members to ensure contractor compliance to issued designs
• Drafting of mechanical systems such as HVAC, Compressors, Pumps and Piping
• Revise and / or develop detailed Piping and Instrument Diagrams, piping drawings and other mechanical drawings
• Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices and other standards
• Field as-built, measurement, and design as project requires
• Meet or exceed the company’s safety standards
• Development of Construction Work Packages
• Provide piping drafting support to capital and operating projects in a fast-paced environment

Skills / Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Diploma in Engineering Technology / Drafting
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
• Ability to gather field data and measurements
• Ability to work with Construction Contractors to achieve project requirements
• Ability to work efficiently and handle multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Navisworks
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience drafting mechanical systems for process-industrial facilities, including piping and P&ID layouts, mechanical elevation, and plan drawings
• Comfortable working independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
