Mechanical Design Manager - Automation

This individual will be responsible for the design, development, construction and optimization of automation and mechanical systems.In addition they will monitor and interpret existing and proposed product/industry regulations.

• Project Management of mechanical builds to produce quality results on time & within budget
• Design of prototype machine components for proof of concept
• Coordinate the integration of wiring and controls from the initial concept and budget development phase through to system build, setup & debug.
• Responsibilities
• Produce BOM for equipment
• Automation and special purpose machine design and preparation of mechanical drawings
• Prepare RFQ’s for outsource components & assemblies.Work with selected suppliers to ensure completeness and accuracy of their work
• Direct the daily activities of Mechanical design and machinery build personnel
• De-bug and standardize mechanical systems
• Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques finishes & hardness
• Reporting technological development and timeline for SR&ED
• Establishing & maintaining standards for engineering drawings and specs.
• Apply creativity in converting verbal concepts or rough sketches into 3D CAD designs
• Examine project instructions & drawings to determine test specs, procedures, objectives, test equipment & problems involved in design.
• Work with team to quote / budget new equipment projects for production.

• Qualifications
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the design, management and launch of special purpose machinery
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Bachelor’s degree or technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Familiarity with GD&T, pneumatics, hydraulics & machine control logic.
