Job Description
Description

This position has the option to be located in Toronto, Canada or Bellevue, WA. Domestic relocation support will be provided.

At Amazon, the Canada Transportation Execution organization is looking for a Program Manager to join the Canadian Cross Border team. This team manages programs that are critical to the success of Canadian Transportation network and is responsible for supply chain aspects influencing transportation performance.

We own network design, transportation planning, monitoring, speed improvement, on-time delivery and cost optimization processes for retail transfer and fulfillment programs from US to Canada: NAFN Inventory Sharing and NAFN Direct injection.

Candidate is required to rely heavily on influence to convince other teams to drive improvements across delivery speed, cost, and delivery accuracy (DEA), and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own program communication, accelerating progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, clearing blockers (e.g., path to green), escalating as appropriate
  • Manage post-launch support plans (e.g., post-mortem, issue/ticket management, etc.) and look for opportunities to improve program quality and operational excellence
  • Manage new and existing programs, successfully delivering difficult projects and goals across multiple organizations
  • Partner with other program managers to secure resources, scope efforts, set project priorities and milestones and drive delivery
  • Work directly with external providers, customers, and partner teams to craft and deliver scalable solutions
  • Work with program managers and business leaders to communicate and impact critical business initiatives
  • Engage other Amazon business units globally to share best practices and improve end to end outcomes for Amazon customers
  • Influence design and development of strategic processes
  • Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects and using this data to drive/influence business decisions

A day in the life

  • Own the Performance and Transportation planning of the Retail cross border fulfillment program (NAFN DI).
  • Partner with other transportation teams to uncover opportunities to improve overall carrier performance
  • Own the weekly transportation forecast to our middle mile transportation and sort centers partners.
  • Own the delivery accuracy (DEA) metric deep dives and weekly call outs. This requires performance monitoring (e.g. on time departure) of carrier, fulfillment centers, and customs brokers
  • Own the configuration, daily monitoring, and adjustments of lane-level transportation capacity (actual vs planned). This process enables proactive cancellation or scheduling of trailers needed to travel from Canada to the US to pick up freight.
  • Own the deployment of transit time buffers due to weather or other unexpected events.
  • Serve as backup for role in charge of cross border fulfillment network design, delivery speed, and cost.
  • Own execution of network design changes, including managing new lane launches and lane deprecation.
  • Own planning for events such as holidays, peak periods, or major weather events.
  • Set goals for DEA buckets and influence teams to deliver results

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
  • 3+ years of program or project management experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
  • Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Research, MBA or related field
  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
