Who you are:
You will speak with inspiration and passion for the business. You will be capable of implementing new automated systems, tools, and processes and have direct experience related to system analysis and system implementation. You must have implacable presentation skills, excellent attention to detail, be a strong leader with an adaptable, innovative mindset, and be a great team player. You will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You will have an exceptional track record of experience in taking ownership and accountability in delivering systems and process improvements. You will have successfully led a team or division of three or more people through change and have clear examples of building “A” teams without sacrificing culture.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong operations/general management background and a track record of repeated success ideally in growing organizations and/or scaling a high-growth company, preferably in the transportation/logistics/freight industry. The General Manager will be a focused, tenacious, and determined leader who possesses a strong vision to be able to highlight opportunities beyond the initial strategy in an innovative culture.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage ambiguity, identify opportunities, and be comfortable flexing between strategy and the nitty-gritty of execution. The impact you will have:
With locations across the GTA, the client is looking for a General Manager of Transportation & Fleet to come in and provide hands-on support for the team at all three locations (when necessary). Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this role will continually evaluate best industry practices in comparison to internal systems and needed resources, with an eye toward both future needs and budget realities. The goal is to build a level of sophistication that enables continued innovation as the organization continues its growth, to support increasingly complex demands, and yet to remain true to the organization’s culture.
What are we looking for?
Candidates must have the following experience to be considered:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in business, or a related field.
- Overall Operations Experience: 7+ years of operations and general management preferably in a recycling/ waste management company or an industrial and or people-focused business
- Finance Acumen: Comfort working with budgets, payroll, revenue and forecasting.
- Leadership: 3+ years of leadership experience: people management and talent development, including training, coaching/mentoring, and team building.
- Operational Efficiency: Proven track record in driving profitability through operational excellence
- Travel: This is an in-person role requiring travel between three facilities
