The Coordinator, Meal Program is an innovative, creative leader who is responsible for managing the delivery and efficient operation of the Meal Program.The Coordinator, Meal Program, is responsible for all aspects of meal service delivery, program administration and the coordination, supervision and recognition of program volunteers.The Coordinator, Meal Program works collaboratively with others as part of the Links2Care Community Services program team.As an employee of Links2Care, the Coordinator, Meals Programs, will actively demonstrate Links2Care Values and will promote and support the Mission and Vision of the agency.
Role and Responsibilities
- Occasional heavy lifting and moving of items up to 25 lbs. may be required.
- Able to work within a flexible framework.
- Participates in the broader Links2Care team by attending general staff/team meetings, community events, fundraising events and marketing of programs.
- Collects and maintains client information based on program needs and employer requirements in accordance to the Links2Care confidentiality/privacy policy, PHIPA and PIPEDA legislation and IAR privacy standards.
- Develops and implements program evaluations and monitors ongoing program performance measures for continuous improvement through client satisfaction surveys.
- Maintains safe food handling practices for preparing, handling and storing of food.
- The Coordinator, Meal Program, works in a Links2Care office environment performing administrative tasks using a computer keyboard, viewing a computer monitor.This position requires some travel to program locations and to clients’ homes, with occasional travel to alternate Links2Care program sites.Other travel may be required throughout Halton and the Mississauga area to participate in community networking, meetings and events and activities that support Links2Care programs.
- Screens and conducts intake of new clients, determining client goals and service eligibility, making appropriate referrals to other Links2Care programs and/or community support services as needed.
- Maintains a professional, safe and healthy work environment.
- Participates in ongoing education and continuous learning opportunities.
- Liaises with meal providers for the procurement and delivery of hot meals and frozen menu items.
- Provides information and resources of programs and services available to clients throughout Halton.
- Coordinates and evaluates the work of volunteers, providing information and coaching and recognition as needed.
- Coordinates service delivery ensuring program activities operate efficiently within the policies and procedures of Links2Care, the mandate of the funders and CARF accreditation standards.
- Other duties as assigned to support the agency as required.
- Actively markets and promotes the meals programs.
- Accurately documents and maintains client information.
- Participates in community networking and community partnerships.
Qualifications
- Minimum completion of a post secondary education diploma in social sciences, gerontology, or equivalent.
- Completion of a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen prior to and throughout employment as requested by Links2Care is required.
- Working knowledge of the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN6) mandate, as well as seniors programming, funding sources, and implications of program decisions.
- Occasional heavy lifting and moving of items up to 25 lbs. may be required.
- Employees who drive on behalf of Links2Care for work related purposes must possess and provide proof of a valid Ontario driver’s license and a minimum of $1,000,000 liability insurance on their vehicle.
- Understanding of the needs of older adults and persons with disability with a genuine interest in providing professional, caring and compassionate service to those clients served.
- Working knowledge of community resources and programs available to in Halton and Mississauga.Knowledge of the programs and services provided by Links2Care is an asset.
- Minimum 1-2 years experience delivering programming, preferably older adult support services.
