Job Description

Reporting to the Tax Partners, the Manager is responsible for working on a variety of US cross-border tax files and tax planning engagements, assisting clients, providing research and technical support, identifying and handling issues on files, and supporting the marketing initiatives of the practice.The individual also supervises and trains tax staff. This position requires a solid US individual and/or corporate tax background.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor staff.
  • Help maintain practice docket and project workflows.
  • Review complex US personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Draft correspondence for both internal use and clients.
  • Able to pro-actively ‘issue spot’ technical issues and propose solutions.
  • Prepare and present professional development seminars.
  • Manage multiple US tax compliance engagements for owner-managed businesses and their stakeholders including budgeting, scheduling, and invoicing.
  • Stay current and able to advise firm and clients on relevant tax law developments.


Skills - Must Have:

Canadian CPA or State Certified Public Accountant designation (US CPA) AND IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) designation

| 4 years US Tax experience with a mid-sized or large CPA firm

  • 4+ years stable US tax experience serving owner-managed clients with a mid or large sized CPA firm.
  • Proven ability to lead engagements and people.
  • Academic excellence including completion of university-level US tax coursework.
  • Detail orientated, well organized and able to prioritize demands, workflow, and meeting deadlines.
