Job Description
Based On Current And Evolving Opportunities, The Successful Candidate Will Support


Working in the McMaster Children's Hospital Child & Youth Ambulatory Services and serving both the McMaster University Medical Centre (MUMC) and Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre (RJCHC), the Program Coordinator will support the execution of various initiatives, with a key focus on the MCH (MUMC/RJCHC) Food Insecurity Strategy.


  • Manage relationships with new and existing donors and engage in outreach duties in the community
  • Communicate with partners within MCH and external organizations. This will include performing internal communications without our hospital organization as well as with current and potential community partners
  • In conjunction with the Food Insecurity Strategy Group Co-Chairs, will also set priorities for the program
  • Program development, delivery and evaluation
  • Supporting small teams of volunteers within break-out groups
  • Perform marketing strategies
  • Schedule program work, oversee daily operations and coordinate the activities of the program
  • The coordinator will be asked to monitor program budgets and maintain records pertaining to projects


The program coordinator will work closely with Committee/Woring Group chairs and provide support to these committees/working groups and will be directly accountable to the Clinical Manager.


  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Administration and financial skills
  • Willingness to participate in a criminal reference check
  • Excellent critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, and collaboration with broad stakeholders
  • Bachelor's Level Degree or Diploma in health sciences, public health, or related area
  • Valid driver's permit and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience with non-profit program development, leadership and communications
  • Actively supports/promotes health team functioning and solution focused approaches
  • Fluency in French will be considered an asset
  • Experience in working within an equity, diversity, inclusion framework, including experience or familiarity with community-based programming and social determinants of health
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software and online platforms (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point, miscellaneous graphics software, diverse social media platforms

McMaster Children's Hospital is the regional academic centre for pediatric acute care, rehabilitation developmental and mental health services. Schedule Work Hours


Monday to Friday. Some evenings and weekends may be required.


This position is temporary until March 31, 2024.
