The Program Consultant, Data Engineering, is responsible for leading key data management activities related to the migration of SAS data into a cloud-based open-source environment. This includes transforming data into formats that can be easily analyzed and supporting the implementation of data management solutions and best practices in the new environment. Working in collaboration with IT, analytical teams and other project team members, the Program Consultant will leverage industry best practices while supporting Company's broader data governance requirements.
What you'll do
· Lead the design of data structures in an open-source environment.
· Responsible for integrating/converting data from multiple sources and provide advice and guidance to analytical teams during conversion period.
· Recommend and lead improvements and enhancements to processes, tools, and systems to support effective data and metadata management.
· Provides subject matter expertise on data governance-related business processes, standards, and tools such as Informatica Axon and EDC.
· Provide support to metadata management related to data assets (data classification, data lineage) using Informatica Axon.
· Create and monitor metrics related to compliance of data management policies.
· Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Company's privacy/security requirements as they relate to business and user needs in order to advance data management solutions.
· Maintain current knowledge of and leverages industry best practices related to data and metadata management.
· Contributes to the execution of company's overall data and information governance program.
What you'll bring to the table
· University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent skills and experience.
· Experience migrating SAS or SQL data into other formats.
· A minimum of five years’ combined experience in the following areas: data governance, data management, information management, data quality, metadata management.
· Experience with Python and familiar with R, SQL, and SAS.
· Experience with Open-Source Environments and Cloud Services.
· Familiar with Spark framework and related tools.
· Experience/familiarity with Informatica Tools/Technologies E.g. Axon, Enterprise Data Catalogue is an asset.
· Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze, synthesize and communicate complex information.
· Excellent customer-focus, communication, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels of the organization.
· Self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision, while working effectively within a large, interdisciplinary team.
· Ability to lead and mentor staff.
· Ability to fulfill occasional travel requirements.
· Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both English and French is an asset.
