Job Description

The Product Delivery Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of ATM solutions to meet customer program and product R&D initiatives requirements, schedule, and quality standards. To achieve this, the Manager, Product Delivery will lead:

• The Product Management team is responsible for defining the product's vision and establishing and maintaining the product roadmaps and managing the backlog & R&D pipeline in accordance with the company’s strategies & goals and customer program requirements.

• The Product Assurance team responsible for verification and validation, customer training and acceptance of our complete ATM solutions to ensure it meets customer requirements and specifications.

• The Product Lead team responsible for overall coordination of all team deliverables through the Product Lifecycle (PLC).

The Product Delivery Manager manages human resources needs and daily activities of direct reports within the Product Delivery department. The Product Delivery Manager recommends and acts to direct the analysis and resolution of problems and to remove any obstacles. In addition, the Product Delivery Manager is responsible to determine the feasibility and cost effectiveness of delivery methodologies to meet customer demands for new and existing programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Departmental Management

• Provides and is responsible for the fiscal year budgetary needs of the department.

• Oversees and controls departmental expenditures to remain within current fiscal year budget.

• Responsible for balancing staffing levels and skill mix to meet contractual commitments and accomplish internal R&D objectives.

• Oversees the Diverted Direct Labor (DDL) charging by direct-charge employees within the department to maintain the budgeted rate.

• Ensures maintenance of departmental core competencies through knowledge management, training, and mentorship.

• Supports the initiatives of the Director to accomplish company and department-wide goals.

• Assists Director with adjusting the organizational structure of the department as needed to support the company’s strategic objectives.

Employee Functional Management

• Performs functional management of direct reports, including setting goal/objectives, mentorship, timely performance management and reviews, addressing performance or discipline issues, recognition or awards and salary adjustment recommendations.

• Works with the Human Resources department to implement strategies for recruitment, discipline, grievance, counseling, pay, work conditions, employee contracts, training and development, succession planning, morale and

motivation, culture and attitudinal development, and performance appraisals.

• Oversees the interview and hiring process for new staff and oversees staff reductions when needed.

• Manages the development of internal training plans and procedures.

Product Delivery

• Lead the Product Management group to work in collaborations with all departments to ensure Adacel’s products considers all stakeholders’ (Corporate strategies and goals, Customer, Business Development, Engineering, etc.)

requirements and meet customer satisfaction and quality goal targets.

• Lead the product assurance group to establish independent testing strategies, processes, and tools to verify and validate that the delivered solution meets customer program requirements. This includes:

o Maintenance and augmentation of operational evaluation, regression, and acceptance test packages;

o Define the methods and the tools to cost effectively develop and maintain a suite of functional automated tests; and,

o Develop, in collaboration with the System Engineering team, a product level system non-functional tests packages.

• Responsible for the development and maintenance of controller training curriculums, training materials and associated user manual documentation.

• Work with the Product Leads during program execution to ensure all tasks and deliverables are completed in accordance with program schedule and priorities.

• Lead the R&D planning process to develop a prioritized annual R&D plan that balances the needs of all stakeholders against the available budget.

• Is accountable for the development and maintenance of product roadmaps that are aligned with the company’s strategic plans and ensures we develop products that provide real value to our customers.

o Works closely with Systems & Software Engineering to ensure that technology obsolescence and system architecture evolution are included in the product roadmaps.

Process Management

• Works with the System and Software Engineering Managers to establish System development life cycle process best practices and continuously seeks to improve quality and efficiency.

• Responsible to lead the development and implementation of the new Adacel Dynamic Iterative Process (aDID) within the ATM BU.

• Ensures our Product Delivery processes meet CMMI, Health & Safety and ISO requirements. Provides recommendation in terms of seeking specific level of accreditation.

• Assists with the creation and maintenance of processes, policies, and standards as requested by executive management and/or APG (Adacel Process Group).

• Ensures employees adhere to these processes, policies, and procedures.

New Business Capture

• Lead the Product Delivery proposal and estimate efforts in responding to Customer RFI’s/RFP’s/etc.

• Oversees and challenge the proposed functional solution to ensure we achieve the customer requirements while meeting the Design to Win (DTW) cost target and ensures conformance to company and product objectives when defining the solution.

• May be required to participate in Business Development activities (trips, meeting, conference) as the product delivery expert.

• Supports new business capture by providing information needed to complete RFI’s/RFP’s/etc., giving convincing product demonstrations, and supporting any discussions/negotiations with potential customers during Business Development capture activities.

Other

• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

• Profitability / Optimization: Is concerned about the profitability of products and services; implements improvement processes to optimize productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 10+ years of Software/System/Product Development experience

• 5+ years of functional managerial experience

• In Depth Knowledge of product development lifecycle from design to site acceptance

• Strong Knowledge in software & product verification and validation methodologies

• Knowledge of product management methodologies

• Knowledge of project management methodologies.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Previous leadership and project management/coordination experience.

• Problem identification, analysis and solving skills.

• Leader and a team player with excellent management, technical and communication skills.

• Successful with scaling development organizations.

• Hands-on, detail oriented and able to anticipate problems.

• Ability to redirect projects that are headed astray and ability to get products back on track.

• Straight-forward, highly ethical, self-effacing, professional and able to listen to others.

• Familiarity with the AGILE/SCRUM methodology.

• Proficiency in English and French.

Desired

• Knowledge of domain-specific topics (Air Traffic Management/Control, ATC simulation, speech recognition, etc.).

• Knowledge of operational system safety standards and qualification processes.

Other Qualifications:

• Ability to adhere to Adacel’s Drug Free Workplace Policy.

• Ability to pass an Adacel background check while employed.
