Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity as Plant Industrialization Manager.


This role is based in our Edmonton plant and reports to the Plant Manager.

Job Purpose


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the safe operation of all new and existing extrusion lines. Ensures that all aspects of line industrialization requirements are completed within timelines. Will drive continuous improvement.


Responsibilities will also include monitoring and coaching employees to produce the highest quality products as efficiently as possible while adhering to corporate health and safety policies.


Key Responsibilities


  • Troubleshoot and repair the equipment with the help of plant and corporate resources.
  • Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and properly used.
  • Ensure that the finished product is manufactured in compliance with the Corporate Quality Control Manual and ISO procedures.
  • Work with the Maintenance team to develop and implement preventative maintenance of all equipment on the line.
  • Participate in scheduled audits to ensure compliance with HSE and ISO standards.
  • Implement principles of LEAN and develop continually expanding front-line engagement in leading the day-to-day management of operations and maintenance of the workplace.
  • Develop training manuals for the production team and establish standard procedures to follow.
  • Collaborate with workers and managers to reduce downtime, maintain efficient use of labour, and achieve objectives set for the plant.
  • Implement and enforce location-safe work rules.
  • Lead ‘Line 12 Industrialization Team’ and conduct regular meetings to monitor progress on multiple improvement initiatives.
  • Continually audit existing equipment and processes and implement improvements.
  • Proactively monitor, verify, and update MES (Hydra) information as required. Monitor all defects at the workstation and connect with Operators, Process Supervisors, Maintenance, and Quality Control to ensure timely corrections.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for X-Large Diameter PVC Line Operation.
  • Generate R.F.Q.s, analyse job costing, material reports, and review financial records to ensure improvement project activities are in line with the budget.
  • Prepare economic analysis and comparisons to provide management with information to use in decision-making processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements


  • 5 years experience in a manufacturing/production plant environment
  • Degree in Engineering or College Diploma / Certification in a technical trade
  • Knowledge of plastic extrusion processes and plant machinery.
  • Project Management Certificate, LEAN Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification are important assets
  • Technical understanding of production planning techniques, a basic understanding of quality management standards, lean manufacturing, and safety requirements/laws
  • Knowledge of ERP and MES systems
