Personal Support Worker Instructor

We are seeking a competent and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) Instructor to join our team at the Trillium Vocational Institute (subsidiary of Trillium Med Village) in our Scarborough location. The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching adults and be passionate about helping mature students achieve their goals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The instructor will guide, coach, and support students to be successful in their healthcare career. This will require that they be able to create an effective adult learning environment and actively teaching the curriculum as outlined by the college.

Academic

• Foster a collaborative and team-focused environment to optimize academic success.
• Ensure students are taught in accordance with the approved curriculum.

Administrative

• Participate in student orientation procedures.
• Assist with monitoring student attendance.
• Implement and follow the policies and procedures established by the college.
• Attend staff meetings, as required.
• Maintain proper records of student interactions.
• Complete and submit monthly student progress reports.

Instructional

• Ensure all course objectives/modules are taught in accordance with program schedule.
• Competency with multiple LMS (Blackboard, D2L)
• Strictly adhere to set classroom schedule.
• Regularly monitor student progress; provide relevant feedback regarding performance.
• Maintain fair, firm, and consistent disciplinary measures.
• Competently inform students of program evaluation guidelines.
• Establish classroom atmosphere which is conducive to learning.
• Adjust instruction techniques to meet the needs of students.
• Assist students in the development of efficient learning skills and study habits.
• Keep accurate and complete records of student performance.
• Instruct students using established curriculum consisting of lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, interactive activities, etc.

Other

• Other duties as assigned by Campus Administrator.
• Maintain professional registrations through your governing body.

Qualifications and Experience

• Knowledge of the NACC's Personal Support Worker program curriculum is an asset.
• Minimum of two (2) years current, relevant work experience in a Canadian clinical environment preferably in a long-term care/community/chronic care setting.
• Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration and no practice restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $23.00-$26.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
