Job Description
  • We are currently recruiting for a Personal Support Worker to assist our male client with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis with all activities of daily living. #UN2023**Location:** Surrey*Available Shifts:** 15 hours/week max* Monday - Friday: 8am to 4pm* Shift number, length, and start time flexible*Compensation:** $25 per hour*Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:** In facility: Assistance with daily activities like grooming, oral hygiene and eating* Administer meals, supplements, and medications through peg feeding tube* Daily tracheostomy care including cleaning the stoma, changing dressings and changing the inner cannula* 2-day tracheostomy and ventilator training course available through PROP (Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program)* Troubleshoot ventilator settings and alarms* Use Cough Assist machine and suction to clear secretions.* Help with repositioning, stretching, and light exercises.* Assist with turning on his electronics.*Requirements:** Able to stay calm in emergency* Bring positivity, kindness and light-heartedness* Must be able to lift 50lbs; taller - client is 6 foot* Fully vaccinated* Be proactive and go the extra mile* Help with light housework when there is downtime* Ability/patience to communicate with a Punjabi-speaking patient who speaks minimal English* Basic caregiving experience preferred* PROP training provided for specialized care_*Individuals with disabilities can be more susceptible to the severe symptoms of COVID-19.
