Job Description
Position Title: Payroll & Benefits Administrator
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
About Arctic Canadian
Arctic Canadian is a Canadian mining company and a significant producer and supplier of premium rough diamond assortments to the global market. The company owns and operates the Ekati Diamond Mine, located in Canada’s Northwest Territories. In addition to its mining and exploration operations, Arctic Canadian has offices in Canada and Belgium.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Services & Analytics and working a Monday to Friday (40 hr./wk.) schedule at the Calgary Corporate Office, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible administering the company’s SAP system to ensure high quality, timely and accurate payment of employee pay and benefits. This role works closely with the HR team to ensure data is entered as per schedules, with accuracy, and supports employee and management inquiries related to pay and benefits.
This position will be permanently based in Calgary, AB. Occasional travel to the Ekati mine site may be required.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Processes and prepares payroll sheets for new hires, terminations, promotions, pay changes, payouts, and other allowances and pay related entries
  • Responds to employee enquiries regarding benefits and directs them to the proper forms to use
  • Pull various reports for HR, Management, and partners
  • Participates in SAP System update testing
  • Updates benefits information for employees as required, as per employee changes
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Responds to employee enquiries regarding pay/hours
  • Works with the benefits provider to maintain data accuracy
  • Files employee forms and confidential data in secured employee records
Education/Experience
  • High level of personal integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders and confidential/sensitive information
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, problem solving skills
  • Member of the CPA and Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as required
  • Experience in Benefits Administration would be an asset
  • Customer Service orientation and results focused, “what is possible” attitude
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a payroll function
  • Knowledge of Alberta and NWT payroll rules is preferred
  • Post-Secondary education Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related discipline
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working in SAP (or similar ERP system) and Microsoft Excel

Additional Information
Arctic provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points,
